Welcome! Project Lead the Way is a nationally-recognized program in engineering that meets national learning standards for mathematics, science, and technology.

The key components of PLTW’s learning focus include:
  • in-depth student focus on one project over an extended period of time
  • working cooperatively and effectively as a class or in small groups
  • integrating Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) skills to solve complex problems
By engaging in hands-on, real-world projects and problems, students come to understand how the skills learned in the classroom can be applied in everyday life.  The PLTW Curriculum equips students to enter a two- to four- year college or technical school in engineering or engineering technology, and gives students a competitive advantage over peers when entering the work force.

Patterson High School has a dedicated team of teachers (Ms. Ball, Mr. Fofanah, and Mr. Yates), in the Transportation & Engineering Technology Academy, who work together to teach the following course sequence for students in the Project Lead the Way pathway (click on each course title to learn more about that class):
  1. Principles of Engineering (POE)
  2. Introduction to Engineering Design (IED)
  3. Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM)
  4. Digital Electronics (DE)
  5. Engineering Design and Development (EDD)
The PLTW pathway at Patterson is also associated with the following after-school activities:
