Patterson hosted the annual STEM competition on November 9, 2017. Ms. Ball and Mr. Yates organized the event and there were judges to grade each team’s performance, how each team strategized through each stage if they could solve the the challenges from each stage of the competition.

One of the judges, Judge Jaft, thinks that the STEM competition was awesome. Jaft believes that using team work and putting team effort into thinking about and creating something gave the students an idea of the real challenges out there in the world. She also learned about creativity from these young folks and about thinking outside the box.

STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. The purpose of this event is to educate students to know how important it is how we can learn and use things that surround us. Students can use STEM skills, not only at school, but also in the outside world.

Mr. Benton was the guest speaker at the STEM competition. Before giving the awards and trophies to the winning team, Mr. Benton gave a speech all the student engineers who participated in the STEM competition. The event was a great success as usual. Students learned a lot and had fun doing it.
